Божићни пост

Ето девојка ће зачети и родиће Сина, и наденуће му име Емануило (Ис. 7,14).

Драга браћо и сестре,

Почео је Божићни пост који ће трајати од 28. новембра до 7. јануара.

Први подаци о слављењу Божића потичу из Египта око 200. године. У другој половини четвртог века, у Александрији се 6. јануара славио Божић заједно са Богојављењем. Из беседе светог Григорија Ниског 380. године, сазнајемо да су верни у Кападокији славили Божић 25. децембра. Захваљујући светом Јовану Златоустом празновање Божића уведено је у Антиохији 386. или 387. године. Свети Василије Велики предложио је светом Григорију Богослову, да у Цариграду установи празник Христовог рођења, 25. децембра по старом календару, а за то је имао сагласност и светог Јована Златоустог.

У праскозорје празника Рождества и Оваплоћења Бога Логоса, ми православни хришћани, се припремамо да што достојанственије дочекамо Божић и да се кроз пост и молитву духовно оснажимо и облагодатимо своје душе.

Молимо се Богу да скупа у Храму сви заједно дочекамо Божић, празник у којем су се испунила сва пророчанства о рођењу Спаситеља. Испунило се обећање које је Архангел Гаврило прорекао Пречистој Дјеви Марији: “Ето, зачећеш и родићеш Сина и наденућеш Му име Исус. Овај ће бити велики и назваће се Син Највишега, и царству Његову неће бити краја” (Лк. 1, 31).

Mи се о Божићу присећамо да је Богу све могуће што каже и како су се испуниле анђеоски упућене речи Дјеви Марији која је послушна и смерна када је чула анђеоску објаву упитала анђела:” Како ће то бити кад ја не знам за мужа?” (Лк. 1, 34) A Aхангел Гаврило јој је одговорио: “Дух Свети доћи ће на тебе и сила највишега осениће те; зато и оно што ће се родити биће свето, и назваће се Син Божији” (Лк 1, 35).

У Божићном посту се присећамо милости Божије и благовољенија Божјег према људском роду. Смело дакле похитајмо у сусрет Божићу и принесимо даре као Мудраци са Истока приносећи на дар нашу љубав и молитву, скрушено срце и опроштај свима.

Потрудимо се да озарени станемо испред колевке Богомладенца и да се удостојимо Божије милости и обасјања Божиће радости на све нас.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Christmas fast has started, and it will last from November 28, 2020 to January 7th, 2021.

The first records of the celebration of Christmas come from Egypt around the 200 year of our Lord. In the second half of the fourth century, Christmas was celebrated in Alexandria on January 6, together with the Epiphany. From the sermon of St. Gregory of Nyssa in 380, we learn that the faithful in Cappadocia celebrated Christmas on December 25. Thanks to St. John Chrysostom, the celebration of Christmas was introduced in Antioch in 386 or 387. Saint Basil the Great proposed to Saint Gregory the Theologian that he establishes the feast of Christ’s birth in Constantinople, on December 25, according to the old calendar, and he received the consent of Saint John Chrysostom.

At the dawn of the feast of the Nativity and the Incarnation of God the Logos, we Orthodox Christians are preparing to embrace the Christmas as dignifiedly as possible and to spiritually strengthen and to enrich our souls through fasting and prayer.

We pray to God that all of us together in the Church celebrate Christmas together, a holy day in which all the prophecies about the Birth of the Savior have been fulfilled.

The promise that the Archangel Gabriel prophesied to the Most Holy Virgin Mary was fulfilled: “Behold, you will conceive and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end! “ (Luke 1:31-34).

On Christmas Day, we remember that anything that God says is possible and how the angelic words to the Virgin Mary that she will bear a Son were fulfilled: “How can this be, Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin? The angel replied, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.… (Luke 1:34).
During the Christmas fasting, we remember the grace of God and God’s favor towards the mankind. Therefore, let us boldly hurry and rejoice at Christmas and let us all offer gifts like the Wisemen from the East, offering as gifts our love and prayer, meek heart and forgiveness to all.

Let us stand radiant in front of the cradle of the Infant Jesus and be worthy of God’s mercy and the radiance of God’s joy on all of us.
